Description

SVEDC is a small business incubator focused on addressing economic development issues in the South Valley region. In order to do so, they provide bilingual workshops and seminars as well as networking opportunities for entrepreneurs in the area. They also provide workspaces for entrepreneurs, including a full-scale kitchen for food-based businesses and a coworking incubator for other entrepreneurial startups. Entrepreneurs typically first attend a biweekly meeting to learn more about the organization and to determine where their best fit is.

Restrictions

Business owners in the South Valley region just outside Albuquerque.

Description

SCORE (Service Corp of Retired Executives) is a leading, nation-wide organization that has assisted millions of entrepreneurs over its 50+ years of operation. SCORE is a resource partner of the SBA that offers access to a network of experienced business leaders who donate time to mentor entrepreneurs and small business owners. They also host free or inexpensive workshops online and at 300 local chapters around the United States. Mentoring can be conducted either in person or remotely and is always free and confidential, no matter how often you take advantage of this service.

Central NM Community College South Valley SBDC

Here are the Principle Service Areas:

Offers Free Service

Description

The greatest strength of the SBDC is their free, confidential, 1-on-1 business mentoring for anyone who seeks it. Sometimes in order to be considered for mentoring from one of their professional business advisors, you may have to attend a class/workshop or at least present your business plan. SBDC's are located all throughout the state and you should use the SBDC closest to your location if possible, but you can often transfer to a different location if they do not fit your needs.

Professional Business Women of New Mexico

Here are the Principle Service Areas:

Description

This organization works to help women organize for the purposes of networking, professional development, and activism. Meetings and other events are open to both members (who get a discount) and nonmembers. Monthly dinners host speakers on a variety of educational topics and networking between members is encouraged. Despite focusing on women, the organization is open to both genders and regularly counts men among its membership. Interested entrepreneurs are invited to attend a dinner meeting for free to learn more about the organization.

University of New Mexico Small Business Institute

Here are the Principle Service Areas:

Offers Free Service

Description

The SBI provides free business assistance to selected applicants. Students and faculty at the University of New Mexico assist entrepreneurs with marketing strategies, management, human resources, finances, and other aspects of their businesses. The program requires that your business be at least as far along as the startup stage. Assistance is completely tailored to each company's unique needs.

Restrictions

Must be located near enough to the university so that clients can meet with the project team throughout the semester.

Women's Economic Self Sufficiency Team

Description

WESST is a small business incubator that provides entrepreneurs with workshops, advice when applying for financial assistance, networking events, etc. These resources are aimed at startups that have either just launched or are about to launch. WESST also hosts a Women’s Business Center Program focused on providing resources for women entrepreneurs. Most classes and courses are available for small fees, however, free events are also hosted. Consulting is provided through WESST at a low hourly cost.

Services are open to New Mexico residents only.
